I'm feeling considerably less sick now that I took some of that nasty almost-Robitussin stuff. *gag* Nasty, vile liquid. Oh well. I *do* feel better.

I also started reading the Canterbury Tales. It's in rhyming couplets, but in an English more modern than Dryden's, so it's pretty easy to take. And it's charming, really. I'm not more than five pages into the actual text, 'cause I read the mini-biography of Chaucer, but I'm already enjoying it. :)

I should really be working on my comic right now. I'm taking a short break, as the units seem to have spontaneously combusted (i.e. they left the house without telling me where the hell they went). My math's all done, and I have only a smidgeon of science which I could easily do in my two study halls.

Which reminds me that I have not updated the site in ages.

Which is what I shall do now.

“I haven’t,” Diabine said, with a smile. The smile was a blow, truly, more than any word could ever be; a smile with Diabine’s dazzling teeth, always unusually white, canines now subtly pointed. They would emerge more, show their true deadly selves, when he was about to feed.

“Although,” he added after a moment, shaking me from my distressing thoughts, “I’d love to know how it tastes.”
But alas, I spoke to soon. That thought hurt me more: that thought that my dear, sweet fox would someday clamp his jaws on a warm throat, would lose the hate that now made him strong and pure. Diabine would realize what I hade done, and in this way he would be like me. He would be dead. He would be without hope. A vampire.
Already he had no hope, but at least now he had hatred to justify his anger. At least now he could

[ o my! 0 comments for me ] . . . ees @ 2:03:00 PM

I sat quietly, trembling, partially from fear but mostly from the cold.
“So?” I asked, for being so near to the end of life often makes people bold. “What now? Turn into a demon like you have so many times, Diabine . . . devour me like you have so many others. What’s so different about me?” I paused for a moment, maybe expecting an answer. When none came, I continued: “Oh, I forgot. I killed you, didn’t I, Diabine? Maybe you’re still standing there, but I killed you. You’re as dead as I’ve been from the moment I was born. How does it feel? How is it different from life?”
And to this, he did reply. “Cold,” he replied, a simple word. “Cold and numb . . . I can’t feel anything.”
“Then you know, don’t you,” I said bitterly. No thoughts went through my mind that I didn’t speak; there was no reason for there to be anything left unsaid. “You know now that the only feeling I’ve ever had was the moment of your death. The moment your life was momentarily my own. I wanted to give it back to you, Diabine, but I couldn’t. I wish I could. At least you could keep it, at least you were human once . . .”
“That depends entirely on your definition of human,” Diabine said, sounding for a moment like the scholar I knew him not to be. “I was human, and I am still, in my ability to feel emotions . . . and by that definition, you, too, are human, Merle.”
“Mmhmm, like every other life you’ve taken, mine is human, right?” I was exasperated. This was pointless. I was going to die and I knew it. But now I wasn’t so sure; the bravery that comes from an impending end was fading from my heart.
I had to use it while it was still there.
“But not quite like every other,” Diabine admitted, as if cueing me to speak, to be brave. But my throat caught, I choked, and I couldn’t do anything but listen.
“You’re different, Merle, because I know you. I treated you as a comrade, maybe even as a friend, in this short time we’ve known one another.” He paused, asked me quietly. “Could you eat the flesh of any creature you had befriended? Could you slaughter a redwing blackbird, roast it on a spit?” It was strange; I was used to him having a loud voice, a robust attitude. But now he was so quiet, almost afraid, and it scared me as well. It stole the words I had been lining up neatly in my mind, words to speak with truth and passion, words that could save me or destroy me.
“Yes,” I answered quietly, because it was true, “and I have.”

Huzzah for bad storywriting. I blog this now because I’m at school, and I don’t want to lose this, should I ever go back to writing Redwing. . .

Hey, I stole Katelyn's bottle cap (well, she gave it to me) and got a song on iTunes! I got Gloomy Sunday by Sinéad O'Connor. I haven't heard much of her stuff, and Loreena McKennit (chick who I have heard LOTS of stuff by, mostly Gaelic) also did Gloomy Sunday. It's the same song. Unfortunately, Loreena's version on my computer got cut off *seethe*! So now I have the full song, Sinéad-style. Nifty. :)

From my Global homework (reading on the Crusades and the clashes between English/French governments and the Catholic church) it seems like the Catholic church was once kind of like the mafia. "We warn you with paternal love, that, recognizing over you the dominion of Christ, you reflect how dangerous it is to prefer your own honour to His. . ."

So like, it's as if Pope Gregory VII there is saying "you make a fool outta la familia? Don' be surprised if a stray bullet grazes your impious ass, Henry."

so true.

I'm very pissed off at my computer. Here's why, as written to Shannon via IM with some minor edits, in the form of a possible snail mail complaint to AOL:

To Whom it May Concern:

I have done everything possible to revive AOL on my eMac, but it still kicks me offline after approximately two minutes.

Also:

In the duration of these two minutes, if I attempt to go to a website on AOL, the application freezes and I have to force quit out of it.

Also:

Using I.E., while ordinarily not too inconvenient, is also becoming troublesome. I can't visit my best friend's blog, because it quits out of I.E. whenever I try to. I also can't visit a few other sites which I ordinarily would frequent.

Also:

All in all, this is PISSING ME OFF!!!!! How the hell am I supposed to fix it!? I've unplugged/replugged my modem, reinstalled AOL. . . so all in all. . .

I HATE YOU!!

Thank you for your time and attention,

Erin Sherman

PS: Is there any way to fix this? Any way at all? Because otherwise Bill Gates will convert me yet. I just can't envision this happening on a PC.

Charlie likes Shalimar. I know, because I put it on his Valentine's Day card, and when he called me, he said he liked the funny smell of the envelope and card itself. I also got his card today. He drew Satu, which, ah. . . explaining Satu is really more trouble than it's worth, I suppose, but she's an elf. I also drew her, although I didn't send the picture to him. Happy Valentine's Day.

Actually, it *has* been a rather happy Valentine's Day. ^.^ Here's what I did today:

1) Woke up late. Duh. Probably around 11:30

2) Got up later. Like. . . at 1:30. I was comfortable, okay!?

3) Took a shower and ate breakfast.

4) Played FFVI in mother's comfy sweatsuit (which I also wear as I blog).

5) Was whisked away, unwillingly, to "look at furniture" (I ended up watching a romance/detective movie/totally random-ass thing which occurs in the Caribbean movie in the car instead).

6) Ate dinner out at a petite, cozy Italian restaurant in Saratoga with my folks.

7) Came back home and continued playing FFVI, which I had never turned off.

8) Was called by Charlie, which was, naturally, the highlight of my day.

9) Saved my game of FFVI, which had been on the entire time.

10) Am here before you now. :)

So yeah, I've had worse days. And I have an entire week of vacation ahead of me. MWAHAHAHAAA!

Other notes on the dance: I was jumping around so much I dislocated my toe, which happens from time to time, but it's better now. xD

Also, Utopia was a "costume ball" (which was, I realized later, an excuse to dress in drag) thrown by Visibility, which is the gay-straight alliance of our school. Incidentally, Visibility and Anime Club are near-identical in membership. xD

I also picked my courses for next year, and they run as thus (other than lunch and gym, which are functioning normally):

English 10H
Math 3H
AP Global History
Biology H
German 3H
Metalworking/Jewelery 1 and 2 (half-year courses)
Latin 1/2 Accelerated

So yeah, I might be overworking myself but I think I'll enjoy overworking myself. . . sort of.

Just went to the Utopia dance. It was . . . very interesting. Very different. And, for the most part, pretty cool.

At first it was a little lonely since I came by myself. But things improved quickly when Kochie and Ashley arrived, 'cause Kochie is always good for dancing with. ^.^ There was a lot of good music, nevermind the fact that I didn't know most of it. Although at first I didn't have much faith in the whole thing, it got a lot better as time went on. There was a strobe light. xD Lots of the music was rock, which was cool, 'cause I got to play air guitar (YAH, playing mah guitar!) and rock out. My hair is, at this point, an unholy mess.

There was a more unpleasant side to the dance as well, but we won't go into that for the privacy of others.

In any case, I quite enjoyed myself.

Remember, everyone: life is not being told that the man has waxed the floor. However, it can be highly amusing if one is wearing the right socks. So wear the right socks. Socks. It's all about socks.

The thing about life is that there are no acts.

You can't read the script, you don't have a program. And there is no easy-to-remember Four Acts rule.

The first act isn't getting to know the characters.

The second act isn't the plot progressing.

The third act isn't when everything seems at its worst.

The fourth act isn't the resolution.

Because if I followed that pattern, I don't see how the bloody hell this couldn't be the third act. So many stupid little things, which aren't really stupid little things, I guess. . .

The night I have to write all of my Valentine's Day cards. The night before my math unit test. All of this bloody stupid nonsense surrounding it.

And why? Lack of cabinet space. For the love of God. . . on the night before.

I delight in using and abusing memegen. Posting various friends' (and various RP characters') names for the love situation meme never ceases to amuse. I was also mildly surprised at the shocking similarity between Satu's meme and my own meme. . .

So. . . yeah. I named my gold chocobo in Jeremy's game Zephyr (see below). She kicks all kinds of ass in the races, although she's bloody stupid compared to her parents (and especially her grandfather Raphie, who's still my smartest chocobo).

I was thinking about how breeding an excellent racing chocobo would be different from following the special chocobo lines. Really, special chocobos have an advantage in the races because there are areas in which only special chocobos can really motor (the space segment at the end of the short race, the waterfall in the long race). So it would be advantageous to breed a special chocobo, yes. . . but at the same time, wouldn't it be better to just breed normal birds from a stock of "wonderful" wild chocobos? Hmmm. . . I may do some excessive playing around with this idea.

Matt hasn't eaten me for not updating the site. This amuses me. I think I ought to update soon, or he will, though.

[ o my! 0 comments for me ] . . . ees @ 10:01:00 PM

So, I'm in an oddly good mood. Most of my snow day has been taken up by FFVII. I now have a black chocobo in Jeremy's game, who is named Lana, and I have caught her prospective mate, Yunsun (would be Yunsung but there's a six-character limit. . . blearg). Lana's parents are named Risa (a mountain-crossing choco in a lovely shade of green) and Raphael (an aquatic bird of the blue variety), and their parents (yes, THEIR parents, there's lots of incest involved in chocobo breeding) were Jay and Luyu. I released those two today 'cause you can only have six chocobos max, and I figured they'd be lonely if I released one and kept the other.

See, if Billy read all that. . . he would crack up. Because those are *all* names he will quickly recognize. Mwahaha.

A few minutes ago, This Is Love by P.J. Harvey came on my iTunes playlist and I was totally rocking out. I don't know where all of this, this, I don't know. . . it isn't *energy,* it's just partying spirit without a cause. I don't know where it came from. But it's here.

He needs much love, because he gave up trying to talk her out of being in love so much she's just bloody STUPID.

Women. What a pain in the ass.

You Are A:

Chaotic Good Elf Ranger
Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.
Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.
Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.
Secondary Class:

Hey, cool! So, from my last result, I've stayed chaotic and good, gone from half-elf to elf, and gone from bard to ranger. Works for me.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HYSTERICAL THAT IS!? Alright, let me enlighten you! I wrote a character description for Zephyr a while ago, and this is how it goes:

Her name isn't Zephyr, but that is the name she has gained for herself. She never gives her true name, the name her mother intended for her, because her mother hadn't been at all to her taste and she's happy to be rid of her. She had never known her father. She's quite strong for a 19-year-old woman and has a streamlined, muscular body which no one could hope to call dainty. However, with her strength comes a capricious attitude and a mysterious playfulness. Long story short: Zephyr is a shameless flirt, in the sense that she's just as rowdy and lewd as any man in the many taverns she frequents. Her eyes are bluish slate gray, but they sparkle like mercury (a heavy, dense metal which is liquid at room temperature, and poisonous to breathe the fumes of, she knew from her studies as an alchemist) whenever she's happy, which is usually when she has a plan afoot. Over these mischievous eyes are a pair of wireframed oval glasses, the lenses tinted dark blue. She hates it when her hair gets in her eyes and distracts her, so it's always pulled back into a messy, wild bun, although much to her dismay the wavy black strands often free themselves and hang to either side of her face. Zephyr has unintentional and rather haphazard gray streaks, ranging from almost white all the way down to her natural shimmering black, in her hair, from some sort of chemical accident which she, at this point, has mostly forgotten about. Other than these highlights, her body is unmarred with tattoos or piercings, and she doesn't like the type of person who has a lot of them. She wears some leather, because in her experience leather is more practical than some light, flimsy fabric, but she utterly despises girls who prance around in it for the purpose of being seductive. It's cow skin treated with dozens of really nasty-smelling chemicals, alright!? Cow skin! It's not sexy! . . . ahem, in any case, yes, Zephyr wears a leather jacket over a black ribbed turtleneck, and usually wears leather gloves and hiking boots as well. On her lower half she wears comfortable straightlegged jeans with a profusion of pockets. Of course, the most obvious part of her image is her gun; the eye is rather drawn to it. It's huge, completely hideous, and has more barrels and elaborate-looking triggers and switches than an ordinary gunman could hope to understand. She has a holster for it, and used to use it until she figured out that the two foot long holster at her hip was more of a hindrance than the gun would be in her hand. Instead she carries the monstrosity one hand all the time, rested on her shoulder when she isn't using it, clutched like a teddy bear in her sleep. Zephyr hails from the town of Königstein, a small industrial city in the northern mountains. She started traveling when her mother died in an explosion, but she still loves the cold and has a talent for messing with machinery and chemicals. Her life consists of drifting, drinking, and overall having a good time. She's never found any cause to work for a living, since she can always find a friend to help her out or just deal with things in her own way, which isn't necessarily the legal way. Just remember: it's not thief. It's TREA-SURE-HUNT-ER. Got it? Good, because this gun could blow your ass to the moon.

So what's changed? The eye color, the S.Q. (sexy quotient) and. . . apparently her sexuality, but that's a minor detail!!

I've been blogging a lot. It's kind of weird.

So yeah. . . I just realized exactly how little I blogged about Snowball itself. Then again, most of you were there. You don't need me to relate events to you. Should you feel a yearning for a relating of events, um, use the tagboard, it's there. ^.^

So now the entire world has heard the news, via Natalie or my sister. Somehow I don't think Billy would run around spreading the word, however, since none of his friends know me or would really care.

I had two subs today, which means I had a happily nonproductive day.

Oh yeah, anyone who wants to see exactly how insane big sisters can get, check out the archives on Cassie's blog (it's Real Blogledytes on the sidebar). It's too bad there's no audio. There's nothing quite like the sound of Cassie going "aww, I'm so HAPPY for you!" over and over again.

Mm, roses in water bowl smell really good.

I see people are enjoying my shoutbox. Es freut mich. I have a math test tomorrow which I ought to study for and quite a lot more homework than I want to do.

Saw Ashley by the science classrooms today. Things went like this:

Me: ::sees Ashley and waves::
Ashley: ::waves back:: . . . your boyfriend's really hot!
::hug::
Me: You're so random.
Ashley: I know.

And I think that's all that needs to be said.

Currently I'm considering sending this to the White House:

My mother was recently relating the goings-on at her office (the Troy Social Security office) to me. Given what she told me, my disgust with the current presidential administration has deepened. I suppose it would be very difficult for any administration to control things in their offices at such a grassroots level, but when I think about it, there's really no excuse for what's going on there.

No employee of the Social Security Administration has the right to slack off on their work as some of these people do. No employee of the Social Security Administration has the right to, as my mother put it, try to "make their supervisors look bad" by not completing their work satisfactorily.

I think anyone who does this deserves to have venom spat into their faces for undermining the purpose of the Social Security Administration. How could anyone be so incredibly self-centered and blind? In any other profession, I would shrug it off, accept it as "well, some people are just vicious, stupid harpies." But in this one? The sole purpose of the Troy office, as well as every other Social Security office throughout the country is to HELP OTHER PEOPLE!! Why the hell would anyone work for the SSA if they would slack off for selfish reasons, negatively impacting the people they're supposed to be helping?

So you see why I'm upset with President Bush. He's allowing evil people into the SSA. I don't use the word evil lightly. To deny a responsibility and honor as great as helping so many people. . . is a sin. I'm not religious really, but if anything's a sin, that is. Our friend Shrubby is letting people slack off, letting the elderly, the disabled, the widowed, the unemployed. . . letting all of these people just waste away. They can't be recruited into his army to fight his war; they can't be in the workforce to improve the economy. All they do is eat up the money he could be spending on destroying the wildlife preserves in Alaska.

Why not dissolve the SSA, President George W. Bush? It would be more honest and less costly than allowing people who shirk responsibility and cause lower productivity to work in these offices you obviously care nothing for anyway.

I hope things change,

Just floated one of the roses from Charlie's corsage. I've been meaning to do so since right after the dance.

[ o my! 0 comments for me ] . . . ees @ 6:07:00 PM

Ah. . . I miss Charlie.

And I have (just accidentally typed "love" instead of "have," talk about a Freudian slip. . . oh well) a lot of homework. I'll be damned if I wanna do it, though. I said to myself, I said, Erin! You are going to start your homework at 5:00. Did I? No.

Oh well. Back to the realm of ordinary existence, no Charlie to torment in the livingroom. I feel like my purpose has been stolen from me. For so long I was getting ready for Snowball, doing all of these little things. . . and now, here I am.

Yeah. . . my shoutbox is a little screwy and it's down a ways on the sidebar, but. . . too bad. I'd like it to be more colorful but I'm *way* too lazy to make it so.

So yeah, Charlie *just* left. I'll check other blogs in a moment to see what my fellow mock-blogdelytes have said about his visit. He was a huge hit with you guys so far as I could see. . . with all of his Ichabod-ness and the poetry reciting and messing up of hair.

It went well, besides that last bit with him having to leave.

"If I should die this very moment,
I wouldn't fear,
For I've never known completeness,
Like being here,
Wrapped in the warmth of you,
Loving every breath of you,
Still my heart this moment,
Oh, it might burst. . .
Could we stay right here,
'Til the end of time, 'til the Earth stops turning?
Wanna love you 'til the seas run dry,
I've found the one,
I've waited for. . .
All this time I've loved you,
And never known your face,
All this time I've missed you,
And searched this human race,
Here is true peace,
Here my heart knows calm,
Safe in your soul,
Bathed in your sighs,
Wanna stay right here,
'Til the end of time, 'til the earth stops turning,
Gonna love you 'til the seas run dry,
I've found the one,
I've waited for,
The one,
I've waited for. . .
All I've known,
All I've done,
All I've felt was leading to this,
All I've known,
All I've done,
All I've felt was leading to this,
Wanna stay right here 'til the end of time
'Til the earth stops turning,
Gonna love you 'til the seas run dry,
I've found the one,
I've waited for,
The one,
I've waited for. . ."
